Tax Problems with HMRC
The Team has a wide range of tax experience with both companies and individuals with a special focus on the construction, property and self-employed sectors. We assist with tax planning and the submission of returns to HMRC.
We work with specialist tax advisers for particularly complex matters so whatever the issue we will have someone available with the expertise to advise our clients. “David’s ability to sort out our tax affairs, which were admittedly in a serious mess and included undeclared rental income and unsubmitted tax returns going back years, was fantastic. I can’t thank him enough for getting us out of big trouble and successfully appealling against draconian penalties from HMRC. I even got a tax rebate – amazing! David is a magician!” – Director, Berkshire
“After realising I had undisclosed tax to pay from letting out a property over several years, I looked for someone to help me. I found David through his website. He advised me on the most effective route to pay this missing tax. David advised that the HMRC’s Let Property Campaign would be my best route to resolving my tax issue and rectifying the errors. He also identified that I had a problem with the High Income Child Benefit Tax Charge which I had to pay. I had complete confidence in David all the way through the process in full knowledge that he really understood the complexities of the LPC and how best to complete my disclosure.
Everything was done within the rules but I felt that David was definitely on my side and he went out of his way to help me. It was really important to me to find an accountant who had specific expertise in property tax and the LPC process and I therefore wouldn’t hesitate in recommending David to anyone who is in a similar situation. Getting the letter from HMRC saying that my tax affairs were in order was a great moment and I breathed a huge sigh of relief!” – Private landlord, West Midlands
“David has a rare combination of business knowledge, flair, tenacity and courtesy. His enquiring mind gives him the ability to take a complex business problem, see it differently, identify the key issues, do his research and create a logical but innovative plan of action. He determinedly works through the plan to a successful resolution. Once my problem with undisclosed rental income was in David’s capable hands, all my stress evaporated. He is amazing!” Private landlord, London
“Huge thanks to David for helping us with a sensitive and tricky matter surrounding our rental properties on which we had previously received incorrect tax advice. This required our personal and business tax returns to be corrected and large amounts of additional tax to be paid to HMRC to correct the mistakes. This has resulted in a significant dispute with former advisers. David’s knowledge, diligence, patience and tenacity is appreciated beyond words. We were very impressed and more than delighted with the care, attention to detail and professionalism he showed us. David was satisfied that we had a strong case and his experience and encyclopaedic knowledge was put to good use to present a very detailed and robust case to the insurers.
David was aware what information was required and how to obtain it. In many instances he was able to pre-empt a good number of the counter arguments the insurers hoped to use, to try to avoid paying compensation, for their client’s incompetence. At all times David made us aware of what was and was not possible and the likely outcome depending on the tactics used. We were able to use informed decisions as to how to progress, and all the costs involved. The outcome exceeded our expectations. We could not recommend David more highly.” Business owners, Essex
“I am very grateful to David for the care he has taken to help me with my tax affairs following my move abroad. I had no idea that countries even within the EU could make things so complicated! David’s coordination of my various advisers has been hugely helpful and relieved me of much stress. He has gone to considerable lengths to understand the various tax issues facing me and has navigated our way through the relevant Double Tax Treaty with enthusiasm.” Business owner, Germany
